Isobel is Pauline’s middle name. It means ‘consecrated by God’. Mount Isabel de Torres
Pauline is British and Isobel is the Spanish translation of Elizabeth, our Queen.
La Isabela was the place at which Columbus landed when he discovered Hispaniola (currently the Dominican Republic and Haiti) and the New World. It was named after the Queen of Spain at the time.
La Isabela, or Mount Isabel de Torres, is also the name of the most significant mountain in this area, a mountain which can be seen easily from Sosua / Cabarete.
The name, therefore, has considerable significance.
The ‘O’s in PrOject IsObel represent a symbol of wholeness, unity, continuity and completion.
